Private households are an important player within the energy transition and therefore are being addressed more and more with offers regarding “green products”. A current survey of the Bonn-based market and economic research company EuPD Research deals with the question how private households estimate the importance of such products. 57% of the 1,000 surveyed households attest photovoltaic systems a slightly higher significance than electric vehicles, which are followed by electrical storage solutions. Only a third of all surveyed households said that further “green products” such as smart household appliances are significant for the use at home.

„Although electric mobility is currently, despite governmental support schemes, significantly below expectations, this survey points out that people view electric mobility and renewable energies as a whole”, Dr. Martin Ammon, head of energy industries center at EuPD Research, states. The survey results further show that renewable electricity should be generated on the own rooftop. When differentiating the way people live, the survey results show that nearly two thirds of the surveyed home-owners attest photovoltaics a higher importance.

In 2017, for the first time EuPD Research will conduct a nationwide survey on the topic of "utilities within the energy transition". The presentation of the research results and the award for the best utilities in Germany will take place on 1 June 2017 at the trade fair Intersolar Europe. The initiators of this project are Intersolar Europe, DCTI German CleanTech Institute and EuPD Research.
